Fishing Spots:

Truckee River - Trout are stocked in some places and protected for catch and release in others so check the regulations before you whet a line.

Martis Valley Lake and Creek - Catch and release only for trout.

Donner Lake - Catch Rainbow and Mackinaw trout.

Lake Tahoe - Catch Rainbow and Mackinaw trout.

Boca Reservoir (2 miles north of the Boca exit off I-80 on Stampede Dam Rd) catch Rainbow and Kokanee salmon.

Stampede Reservoir (approximately 15 miles north of Truckee) - Catch trophy Rainbow and Brown trout.

Indian Springs - I80 West from Truckee to Eagle Lakes Road - climbs rated at 5.2 - 5.11

Donner Summit - Old Highway 40 that runs between Soda Springs and Donner Lake - over 400 climbs accessible in this area of varying difficulty.

Twin Crags - Highway 89 just north of Tahoe City. Good beginner area.

Eagle Canyon near Emerald Bay. 90' wall (actually 75')

Biking

Truckee River Trail - Ride along the lush banks of the Truckee River from River Ranch to Tahoe city. Low intensity ride and 8 miles round trip.

Northstar-At-Tahoe - The resort converts from downhill snow sports to downhill bicycle for the summer. A lift ticket in '07 cost $39 for the day and offers access to 100 miles of trails and even a jump park! Bike and equipment rentals are also available.

Tour de Nez professional bike race is run in part in Truckee. Two parts of the Tour involve Truckee including the Truckee Criterion a one hour time trial and the start of the The Tahoe Road Race. It is a colorful party in town during these races! http://www.tourdenez.com/

Truckee Skate Park: To get to the Truckee Skate park from Highway 80 take the Highway 267 South Exit. Follow the road you will go over some railroad tracks. Follow about 1 mile or so you will pass a 7-11 on  your right. The skate park will be on your left hand side just a little past the 7-11. It's free!
